Issue after upgrade (3.589b -> 3.672b)

description

After upgrading from 3.589b -> 3.672b the following error is received when clicking on any movie title.

Media Companion

Conversion from string "" to type 'Boolean' is not valid.

OK

Also logging does not seem to work as both the Brief and Full logs are 0KB, as a result have not attached logs.

I have sort of got past the issue by clicking OK on the error many times (once for each folder that was in my library) and the movies are showing fine. However the TV episodes are now all showing under the series "TV Noir" and all episodes are listed under this one series. For example I have episodes from seaons 1 of Sherlock, Boardwalk Empire etc. listed under Season 1 of "TV Noir"

Further more I am not sure where TV Noir TV show came from as I do not have this in my library.

This is one error message I have not been able to reproduce.

I really wish I could so it could be fixed.

I just realized you mentioned you did an upgrade.

If this is true, not recommended. You are upgrading from almost 90 versions ago.

I suggest you extract MC 3.672b and set this up from fresh, do not add any files from MC3.589b to this new release as the chance of mis-configuration due to changes across so many versions is sure to introduce these sorts of errors.

Please let me know how you get on with a clean, fresh MC3.672b.

Closing issue as upgrading from 90 versions ago is significant cause of issues.

Sorry for such a long delay in getting back to you. I have been doing further testing and I think I have found the issue. It seems the error is because the existing nfo files I have in my library have an empty (NULL) WATCHED node instead of a 0 (Zero) to indicate an unwatched movie. After changing the WATCHED node to a 0 in my testing folder there were no errors when launching MC.

vbat99 wrote Mar 14 at 10:43 PM

I am not seeing any node called <watched> in movie nfo, tvshow.nfo or episode nfo.
even with nfos created by MC3.589b.

are you sure you don't mean <playcount>

Are you able to upload some un-edited nfo's (zip a few together), and I would love to put a fix for this in place.

Rapscallion wrote Mar 14 at 11:20 PM

Here are 4 Movie NFOs for reference. Let me know if there is anything else you need.

vbat99 wrote Mar 14 at 11:31 PM

Awesome.
I see these movies were not originally scraped with Media Companion, by the looks probably EmberMediaManager.
Got a fix in place for the next release.

Now, what about those TV Series. Did you find a fix for those? Or can you zip up Sherlock nfo's (tvshow.nfo and some episode nfo's), and some from Boardwalk Empire (again, tvshow.nfo and a couple of episode nfo's), and attach here.

The TV series issue seems to have resolved itself. This may have been an issue with upgrading from such an old version. Thank you for your help on this!

FYI my library was scraped in the past using Media Center Master.

Well, just for you, here's MC 3.674c x86 test build, with fix for <watched></watched>.

I'll blitz this from my dropbox in a couple of days.

Cheers

The file is no longer available. Also I was using the 64 bit version. Would it work to overwrite the 64 bit version with the 32 bit version?

vbat99 wrote Mar 16 at 1:07 AM

Damn dropbox, they have changed their policy so I can't paste links from my public folder.
OK, here it is from GoogleDrive.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7TdrQwnLVwFRDR2X0NpUlVWbDQ/view?usp=sharing
above is 32bit link.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7TdrQwnLVwFLVVzbk13Z3pYR2M/view?usp=sharing
and the 64bit test build.

Thank you! I have grabbed the files and will test later today.

I feel that no feedback means all is working as it should.

Rapscallion wrote Apr 6 at 12:38 AM

Sorry yes the updated version is working great!

Thanks again!
