Manually select episode to scrape

description

Hey everyone,

I am running into an issue with scraping 30 Rock, where two part episodes are not scraping properly. For example, season 6, episodes 6 and 7, should be S06E06 - Hey, Baby, What's Wrong? (1) and S06E07 - Hey, Baby, What's Wrong? (2). The first episode scrapes correctly, but the second episode is scraped as the next episode instead, S06E07 - The Tuxedo Begins. Then, every episode after that is incorrectly scraped as the following episode, with the last two episodes in the season being the same (S06E21 - What Will Happen to the Gang Next Year? and S06E22 - What Will Happen to the Gang Next Year?).

So far, the only way I've been able to correct these is to manually edit the .nfo file using the information on thetvtb.com, then manually creating a screenshot from the episode. Is there any way to either prevent this from happening altogether, or at least let me enter the IMDB ID for the episode to have it rescrape successfully?

Can you Post up the filename for that episode please.

vbat99 wrote Mar 9 at 1:42 AM

BTW, What scraper for TV are you using? Suggestion is to not use the XBMC TVDB scraper.

Next release also has the option to add the IMDbId , but this is only if TVDb does not have the IMDB Id.
Reason for this is for rescraping episode Ratings and Votes from IMDb.

Skopin wrote Mar 10 at 11:58 AM

Sorry about that. I should have clarified those things.

I've tried with both the XBMC TVDB scraper and the default scraper. I have them separated into two episodes, so the filenames are S06E06.mkv and S06E07.mkv. I'm seeing the same issue with the two part episode in season 5 as well, S05E20.mkv and S05E21.mkv.

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner.

I have just tested and still not getting the same results as you.

Can you
a. Attach your config.xml to this issue.
b. What OS are you running.

Skopin wrote Mar 13 at 2:01 PM

I'm running Windows 10 Home.

Skopin wrote Mar 13 at 2:04 PM

Ignore that first config.xml; I had removed 30 Rock from the folder list so it would stop scraping it. I added it back in and reattached a corrected file.

vbat99 wrote Mar 14 at 12:24 AM

Just tested with your config file and Season 5 episodes 20 & 21, and also season 6 episodes 6 & 7 scraped correctly.

I will have to check in Windows 10 to be sure, but I feel that I can't reproduce this issue.

Also, can I suggest to download MC 3.674b and set it up from Clean.
And I wouldn't use XBMC TVDb scraper. This scraper was added so some users could customize the scraper as they required.
MC's built in TVDb scraper has better performance and is kept up-to-date.

Let me know how you get on with 3.674b as clean.
BTW, attached screenshot.

Skopin wrote Mar 14 at 1:15 PM

I really don't know what is going on with my setup then. I just did a clean 'install' of MC 3.674b, using the default scraper, and I'm still getting the same result. Screenshot of my results and the config.xml attached.

vbat99 wrote Mar 14 at 10:22 PM

I think I have found the cause, even though I can't reproduce this with Win 7 or Win 10.

It has to do with the DVD ordering.
Season 5 ep 19, has DVD order of 19.0 (I Heart Connecticut)
Season 5 ep 20, has DVD order of 20.0 (100 (1))
Season 5 ep 21, has DVD order of 20.1 (100 (2))
Season 5 ep 22, has DVD order of 21.0 (Everything Sunny All the Time Always)
Season 5 ep 22, has DVD order of 22.0 (Respawn)

Checked season 6 and
Season 6 ep 6, has DVD order of 6.1 (Hey, Baby, What's Wrong? (1))
Season 6 ep 7, has DVD order of 6.2 (Hey, Baby, What's Wrong? (2))

I suggest disabling XBMC TVDB scraper, and setting MC's scraper to Use Default
And try again.

I still can not understand why I am not able to reproduce, as I'd like to get to the bottom of this and fix it.

Let me know if you get correct scraping for these double episodes.

Skopin wrote Mar 15 at 3:49 AM

That was my first thought as well. Sadly, I got the same result using both Default and DVD ordering.

vbat99 wrote Mar 15 at 3:56 AM

Not sure what time delay between us, as I spotted you have Team Viewer.

Maybe an idea if I was able to see hands on sort of.? I'm in New Zealand, just hitting 5 pm for me.

Skopin wrote Mar 15 at 12:54 PM

That would work. It sounds like we're about 6-7 hours apart. I work until 5pm my time, but I can access my home computer while I'm here.

vbat99 wrote Mar 16 at 12:14 AM

Hmmmm, don't think thats gonna work.
Don't believe we can TeamView from mine to your work, then from your work to home.

What's your location?

Skopin wrote Mar 16 at 2:42 PM

I'm in Ohio, US. We should be able to do a Teamviewer directly to my home computer. It supports simultaneous connections.

Does Media Companion store any local settings anywhere except the installation folder? I copied the MC folder to my laptop, along with the Season 5 folder of 30 Rock, ran the scraper, and it worked fine. So all of the settings and everything else were identical, but it keeps messing up on my desktop.

vbat99 wrote Apr 4 at 9:46 PM

MC should only be storing files in the MC folder.

You don't have MC folder on your desktop do you? This is not recommended, as the user folders are protected locations and MC isn't an installed app that gets permission for correct access to those locations.

It's the only reason I can think of that may be causing issues.
But, what do you mean by messing up on the desktop? extra files? What are they called? numbers and extension .xml?

Skopin wrote Apr 5 at 12:34 AM

Sorry about that. I meant on my desktop PC, not on the desktop itself lol. I have Media Companion in its own folder on my storage drive. The messing up on my desktop was just referring to the issue above, where some episodes aren't scraping correctly, leading to one skipped episode in a season and the last two being labeled as the same episode.

Skopin wrote Apr 5 at 12:37 PM

So I think I may have stumbled onto something. I tried using default ordering instead of DVD ordering on my laptop, and it scraped correctly. But only the first time. Every time I've tried since, I'm getting an error that the TVDB is unavailable if I use default ordering. DVD ordering still works, but with the issue I was originally having.

vbat99 wrote Apr 5 at 11:01 PM

OK, lets start again.

Zip up this TV Series, Nfo's only, and attached.
Also zip up your whole Settings folder in MC 3.674b and also attach.
I really need to be able to reproduce in my test environment, so I can see why this is happening.

30 Rock nfo files

Skopin wrote Apr 12 at 5:24 PM

Settings

vbat99 wrote Apr 12 at 11:19 PM

OK, found one thing that caused me problems, and it is a Typo on Media Companion.

Check the tvshow.nfo for 30 Rock.
Look at the last couple of lines and edit the
<sortorder>Default</sortorder>
Change the word Default, to all lowercase
<sortorder>default</sortorder>
Delete the nfo's for S05E20 through to S05E23, and search for new episodes.
When the user clicks on the Sort Order button, it toggles between DVD and Default.
We set the sort order in nfo to "dvd" and ..... Oops, MC was setting as "Default" not "default"
This will be fixed in the next release.
Funny thing is, this bug has been present for a very, very long time.

So, the original issue was that DVD sort order, had S05E20 - 100(1) as DVD order 20.1
S05E21 - 100(2) as DVD order 20.2
Then S05E22 was DVD order 21
and so on.
I will look into the DVD sort order side, though this I have never looked into before. Won't be fixed in the next release, but definitely the one after.

Skopin wrote Apr 13 at 2:20 AM

That is crazy that a capital letter can cause that issue. But thanks a ton for your help. I was able to get the correct info finally. If you need me to do anything else to troubleshoot the DVD sort order, let me know.

vbat99 wrote Apr 13 at 3:18 AM

30 Rock files are a good test bed for DVD ordering, so I should be able to get this nailed with these files.

Will close this issue as resolved, and note issue with DVD ordering on the Roadmap page.

Thanks for being patient.

vbat99 wrote Apr 13 at 3:57 AM

Just as an FYI, Kodi can't handle the DVD ordering of 20.1 and 20.1
This is with TVDB scraper, and DVD order, all nfo's removed.

Kodi completely misses S05E20.
S05E21 is Everything sunny all the time, and S05E22 as ReSpawn. Doesn't list S05E23.

Good to know that MC isn't the only one that can't handle DVD order correctly...LOL.
