Speed of Searching for New Movies

Been using media companion for a while now for XBMC (and Plex). Works like a charm and is truly a fantastic piece of software!

The only small query I have is whether there is any way to optimize the search to pick up new movies any faster?

I've absolutely no idea of the code that goes into doing this and perhaps it is already optimized. I'm just really comparing it to XBMC (or Plex for that matter) which seem to me to find new movies that little bit faster than Media Companion.

Across a Network, MC is kind of slow, and this is an area I want to check over.

What I usually do for adding new movies is the following
  1. Have an instance of MC set to look into a Temp folder.
    example
    Movies are stored in Z:\movies.
create a temp folder like Z:\temp
    Have MC pointed to Z:\temp
  2. Scrape any new movie in Z:\temp. Sort, alter artwork, etc.
  3. Once happy with all the info, Cut the movie(s) from Z:\Temp, and paste into Z:\Movies.
I know this might sound tedious, but when you have a thousand movies, it's just easier to scrape the new ones and get them right, before releasing them into General Population. (so to speak)

Not sure why I never thought of doing that!

Actually makes sense for those of us with large networked collections alright!

Also, if you have multiple movie folders\drives tick Use multiple threaded version where available under General Preferences, General tab
